What to Expect From Your First Visit With Garden & Glass

We don’t arrive with branded vans or loud tools. There are no checklists on clipboards, no sales talk, and no rushing from job to job.

A first visit with Garden & Glass is quiet, considered, and built around one thing: respect—for your home, your time, and the way you like things done.

If you’re based in an Oxfordshire village and wondering what to expect, here’s how the first visit unfolds.

A Calm Arrival, Right on Time

We don’t give vague time windows or turn up unannounced. When we say “mid-morning,” we mean it.

In villages like Wootton, Tetsworth, or Henley-on-Thames, we make a point of arriving calmly, parking carefully, and beginning without fuss.

You don’t need to greet us if you’re busy. You don’t need to make tea. We’ll knock if needed, and otherwise get on with the work as agreed.

A Brief Walk-Through (If You’d Like One)

If it’s your first time using our service, we’ll often do a short walk-round with you. Not to pitch or upsell—but to listen.

You might point out:

  • A window you’re particularly concerned about
  • A sill that always pools water
  • A gate that sticks, or a flowerbed we should avoid
  • A room that’s off-limits or fragile glass in the conservatory

These notes matter to us. We remember them—and we build your routine around them.

We Use the Right Method for Your Home

Not all windows are the same—and neither are our tools.

Depending on the property, we might use:

  • Pure water systems for high or modern panes
  • Hand-cleaning methods for leaded glass or timber frames
  • Dry cloth finishes for heritage detailing
  • Soft brushes, ladder access, and minimal water use for stone elevations

We work with what’s appropriate, not what’s fastest.

Respect for Your Privacy and Space

We don’t let ladders clang against stone. We don’t leave marks in the gravel. And we never enter a space—garden, conservatory, or gate—without permission.

Our visits are designed to be unobtrusive. If you’re working from home, resting, or simply enjoying the quiet, we fit around that.

What We Clean on a First Visit

Unless arranged otherwise, we clean:

  • All exterior windows, including small panes and dormers
  • Ground-floor doors and glass panels
  • Frame edges and ledges (if accessible)
  • Front and rear elevations

Interior windows can be cleaned as well—but usually on a second visit, once trust is established and timing is right.

We’ll also spot and flag anything we notice—flaking putty, leaking gutters, or early signs of timber wear. Not to worry you, but to help you stay ahead of issues.

Payment and Scheduling

We don’t ask for payment in advance. Once the job’s done, we’ll either leave an invoice or send one digitally—whatever suits.

If you'd like to continue on a schedule, we can agree a rhythm there and then. Most clients choose:

  • Every 6–8 weeks in spring/summer
  • Every 8–10 weeks in autumn/winter

We believe good service speaks quietly. Your first visit with Garden & Glass should feel like a continuation of the way you already keep your home—careful, restrained, and built on trust.

Nothing more. And nothing less.
